Qualification Training

Instructor
Qualification
12 Hours of training leading to qualification as an Auxiliary instructor.
Vessel Examiner 10 Hour class plus practical applications which permit the member to participate in the VE program.
Marine Dealer
Visitor
A 6 Hours class which certifies the member as a MDV and a major link with local marinas and boat dealers.
Air Operations Practical and classroom training leading to qualification as an Air Observer, and training for pilots to be certified as Auxiliary pilots.

Boat Crew

Crew/Coxswain Practical and classroom training leading to qualification as Boatcrew or Coxswain. Boatcrew may serve as crew in Auxiliary surface operations, while Coxswains may serve as operators while on authorized surface missions.

Communications
AUXCOM
14 Hour class in radio communication allowing the member to participate in the communications program.
Navigation
AUXNAV
32 Hours of training in all aspects of coastal navigation, including piloting, radar and electronic navigation.
Patrols
AUXPAT
10 Hours of training in procedures for operating Safety, Regatta and Marine Parade Patrols, and topics on safety and leadership while on the water.
Search and Rescue
AUXSAR
40 Hours of training in the U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue procedures.
Seamanship
AUXSEA
10 Hours of advanced training in boat handling, mechanical systems and on-the-water emergencies.
Weather
AUXWEA
A comprehensive, 12-hour class in weather -- what causes it and how to predict changes.

Auxiliary Officer Training

Administration
AUXMIN
A 12-hour specialty course in procedures, protocol and administration.
Administrative
Procedures
APC
A basic administration class designed for elected Auxiliary officers.
Auxiliary Leadership
AUXLEA
8 Hours of training in how to be a successful leader and motivate volunteers.
