Operations

The Kalamazoo Flotilla, one of five flotillas in Division 18 of the 9th Western Region, supports and mans the Auxiliary Detachment South Haven (AUXDET South Haven) located on the Black River on the Eastern shore of Lake Michigan. Every weekend during the boating season from May to September, we provide operational facilities, boat crews and radio watch standers. We respond to incidents and we support regatta assignments that occur in our area of responsibility (AOR) on Lake Michigan.

We work jointly and under the direct supervision of Coast Guard Station St. Joseph, Sector Lake Michigan. Flotilla 18-08 also supports Coast Guard Station St. Joseph to supplement radio watch standers, facilities and crews during special events on an as needed basis.

All members who have the desire may qualify in the Operations Program as Crewman, Coxswain, or Radio Watch Stander, and Air Operations for the 9th Western District for Team Coast Guard!
